- Do I need a visa to visit Western Australia?
- Most international visitors need a visa or an ETA (Electronic Travel Authority) arranged before travelling to Australia — the type depends on your passport. Please confirm the current requirement for your nationality with the Australian Department of Home Affairs (immi.homeaffairs.gov.au) well ahead of your trip. Once your travel is confirmed, we plan the winery day around your arrival.
- How far is Margaret River from Perth?
- The Margaret River wine region sits around a three-hour drive south of Perth — roughly 270 kilometres of easy highway and coast road. Many guests treat it as an overnight or two-night escape rather than a single long day; we can arrange a private chauffeur for the drive down so the day begins the moment you leave the city.
- Is tipping expected at wineries and restaurants?
- No. Tipping is not customary in Australia and is never expected — staff are paid a full wage. A tip is welcome if you feel the service was exceptional, but there is no obligation and no set percentage. Prices you see already include tax (GST).
- Can the wineries cater to dietary requirements?
- Yes — vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free dishes are widely available across the region's cellar-door kitchens, and we note your needs to each venue in advance. Halal-certified menus are less common in the region, so please tell us early and we will confirm suitable options or adapt the itinerary rather than leave it to chance on the day.
- What currency is used, and are cards accepted?
- The currency is the Australian dollar (AUD). Card payments, including international cards and mobile wallets, are accepted almost everywhere, so there is little need to carry much cash. Prices shown already include GST (tax).
- Is the tap water safe and what should we wear?
- Tap water is safe to drink throughout the region. Dress is relaxed — smart-casual is right for even the finest cellar-door restaurants — and it is worth bringing a layer, as evenings and winter days can be cool and coastal.
