Biodynamic & Organic Wineries in Margaret River

For travellers who care how the wine is grown as much as how it tastes, Margaret River offers some of Australia's most serious organic and biodynamic estates — where the philosophy in the vineyard is felt in the glass.

A region with genuine credentials

Cullen Wines is the touchstone — a certified biodynamic pioneer whose Diana Madeline Cabernet and Kevin John Chardonnay are among the region's most admired wines, made from a self-sustaining, carbon-conscious estate. It anchors a day for anyone drawn to low-intervention farming.

Around it sits a spread of sustainable and organically minded growers, so a themed day can move from certified biodynamic to thoughtfully farmed without losing quality or a sense of place.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between organic and biodynamic wine?
Organic farming avoids synthetic chemicals in the vineyard; biodynamic goes further, treating the estate as a single living system and following a farming calendar — Cullen Wines is a certified biodynamic example. Both aim for wines that express their site honestly, and the cellar-door teams are happy to explain their approach.
Can the wineries cater to dietary requirements?
Yes — vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free dishes are widely available across the region's cellar-door kitchens, and we note your needs to each venue in advance. Halal-certified menus are less common in the region, so please tell us early and we will confirm suitable options or adapt the itinerary rather than leave it to chance on the day.
What about guests who don't drink wine?
A Margaret River day is about far more than tasting. Non-drinking guests enjoy the same long lunches, gardens, produce, coastline and cellar-door surrounds, and many venues pour local sparkling, juice, tea and coffee. We simply shape the day so no one feels obliged to drink.
Is tipping expected at wineries and restaurants?
No. Tipping is not customary in Australia and is never expected — staff are paid a full wage. A tip is welcome if you feel the service was exceptional, but there is no obligation and no set percentage. Prices you see already include tax (GST).
